Municipal Drainage Infrastructure - Village of Romeoville
Allied Water Services carried out the complete drainage upgrade and site improvements in the Honeybear Subdivision in Romeoville, Illinois. The work focused on upgrading subsurface drainage, enhancing stormwater management, and improving overall yard grading to support long-term flow efficiency. Scope of Work: • 4" Perforated PVC Drainpipe Installation: Installed approximately 480 linear feet of perforated PVC pipe to collect and redirect subsurface water, reducing pooling and soil saturation. • Minor Swale Grading: Regraded 457 linear feet of shallow swales to restore positive drainage toward yard inlets and prevent surface water accumulation. • Yard Inlet Installation (9"x9"): Installed 16 new yard inlets strategically throughout the subdivision to capture and redirect stormwater runoff into the subsurface system. • PVC Drain Grate (Drywell): Installed one drywell with a PVC drain grate to provide localized stormwater infiltration and manage high-volume runoff. • Manhole Connections: Constructed two manhole connections within easement areas and one in the street for integration with existing storm sewer infrastructure. • Landscape Restoration: Restored approximately 136 square yards of disturbed areas with clean topsoil and seed blend to reestablish vegetation and prevent erosion. • Sump Discharge Connection: Connected 259 linear feet of 4" solid PVC pipe from home sump pump discharges to the new drainage system, improving overall yard drainage performance. • Sidewalk Crossing: Installed one crossing under existing sidewalk to maintain uninterrupted drainage path and ensure proper flow continuity. Outcome: This project provided enhanced stormwater flow, improved grading, and reliable drainage infrastructure throughout the subdivision.
