Downspout Extension Installation
Allied Water Services installed three 8-inch SDR 35 downspout extensions designed to redirect roof runoff from the building to the west-side ditch, improving overall site drainage and erosion control. Scope of Work: • Excavation & Pipe Installation: Excavated along the planned discharge route and installed 8-inch SDR 35 PVC pipe in a stable bed of clean stone to ensure long-term support and consistent drainage performance. • Backfill & Grading: Backfilled trenches with native soil and restored grade to promote surface water flow away from the structure. • Connection Detail: Installed an 8-inch PVC wye fitting with a cleanout hub at the downspout connection point, allowing for future maintenance and inspection access. • Rip-Rap Stone Installation: Constructed a 6’ x 6’ rip-rap outlet area at the end of the discharge pipe to dissipate water energy and prevent soil erosion. Area was excavated, lined with landscape fabric, and filled with rip-rap stone to a 1-foot depth for lasting durability. This installation ensures controlled water discharge, reduced erosion risk, and improved stormwater flow management for long-term property protection.
