Repair and Cleaning of Wool Carpeting

This wall-to-wall, 100% wool carpeting had severe damage, likely from moths. Given the type and quality of this particular carpet, the homeowners wanted to do what could be done to save the carpet. We identified and sectioned out all the damaged areas we could find and used leftover remnants from the installation as fill pieces. This unique home has many complex angles, making some of the repairs quite tricky, particularly a section that had to wrap around the 45-degree angle on the riser of the top step. Given the extensive damage to the upper, loft area, we used the largest remnant available to replace as large an area as possible. We cleaned this wool carpet using wool-safe products and techniques and also applied a denaturizing product, which essentially makes the wool undesirable to moths and other pests. This project took several days due to the number of repairs needed.
