GSHA Services, LTD responded to a no-cooling call at a home on Sparrow Drive in Woodstock, IL during the July heat. Our HVAC technician performed a full air conditioner diagnostic on the outdoor condensing unit: checked the disconnect and contactor, tested the compressor and fan motor amp draw, and used a multimeter to test the run capacitor, which had failed and was reading far below its rated microfarads. We replaced the dual run capacitor with a new OEM-spec part, cleaned debris from the condenser coil and electrical compartment, verified refrigerant pressures and temperature split, and confirmed the system was cooling properly before we left. A failed capacitor is one of the most common summer AC breakdowns, and a fast same-day repair avoids a compressor failure. GSHA Services provides air conditioning repair, AC tune-ups, furnace and heat pump service and new HVAC installation in Woodstock, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Bull Valley, Wonder Lake, Harvard, Marengo and throughout McHenry County, Illinois.
