Redeck with IKO Dynasty Summit Grey
This project required more than a standard roof replacement. The home originally had spaced decking, with slats installed approximately ¼” apart. While common on older homes, this type of decking is not compatible with modern architectural shingles and does not meet current manufacturer installation requirements. To ensure a long-lasting, warrantable roof system, we removed all existing slat decking and installed new 7/16” radiant barrier OSB decking, creating a solid, code-compliant roof deck. This upgrade improves structural integrity while also helping reduce heat transfer into the attic space. The roof was finished with IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Summit Gray, a Class 3 impact-resistant shingle known for its durability, algae resistance, and bold, dimensional appearance. To further improve attic performance and airflow, we also installed a solar-powered attic fan, helping exhaust trapped heat and reduce strain on the home’s HVAC system. The result is a stronger, energy-efficient roofing system designed to perform better, last longer, and enhance the overall comfort and appearance of the home.
