Wind Point Lighthouse Repaint
The Wind Point light house is 95 feet tall and sits alongside the shores of Lake Michigan in Racine Wisconsin. The lighthouse was tuckpointed by a partner company before we started our scope of work. We needed to scrape the building to remove loose and peeling paint. Then we worked on the steel railings and steel doors on the top of the lighthouse. We used electric hand tools and scrapers to remove the old paint and then primed everything with the SW Macro 646 Epoxy and topcoated with the SW WB Alkyd Urethane. For the main brick body of the lighthouse we spot primed with the SW Primer Rx peel bonding primer to make sure that the old paint would not peel once we applied new paint. Then we brushed and rolled on two coats of the SW Loxon Self Cleaning Acrylic Coating.
