This project involved a full transition from an older shingle roof to a metal roofing system on a fairly walkable 4/12 pitch roof. Even with the easier pitch, this reroof still took an entire week because of the amount of detail and precision required when installing metal panels across a large roof layout. Unlike shingles that are installed in repeating bundles, standing seam and ribbed metal systems rely on custom measured panels that must fit each section of the roof exactly. This roof required well over 200 custom length metal panels in multiple sizes ranging from short transition sections to long runs over 19 feet in length. Every section had to line up correctly for the system to perform properly. Metal roofing projects like this move slower because the crew works carefully one section at a time. Panels must be aligned precisely so water sheds correctly and the roof maintains a clean appearance from edge to ridge.
