New Chateau Green Roof Replacement in Gainesville, FL
A roofing system is made up of multiple components working together, not just shingles. One of the most important yet often overlooked elements is the roof edge system, particularly the drip edge. This metal flashing is installed along the roof perimeter to guide water away from the fascia and into the gutters. Without it, water can travel under shingles or behind the fascia, leading to rot and structural damage over time. In Florida, where heavy rain and wind-driven storms are common, proper edge protection becomes even more critical. Drip edge helps prevent water from wicking back under shingles and protects the most vulnerable areas of the roof. When combined with sealed penetrations like boots and vents, the system creates a controlled path for both water and airflow, reducing the risk of leaks and premature failure. For this project, a 35-square roofing system using OC Duration shingles in Chateau Green was installed with long-term performance in mind. Black drip edge was used to protect all roof edges, paired with black boots, vents, and paint for consistent sealing and durability. The system was designed to handle Florida’s weather while maintaining proper water management and structural protection. https://maps.app.goo.gl/QHhf84HaJVJcpeiy7
