A roof replacement is more than a color change. It’s an opportunity to upgrade the entire roofing system, from edge metal to ventilation components. In Florida, where UV exposure and seasonal storms are consistent factors, material choice and installation precision directly affect long-term performance. Dark architectural shingles like Onyx Black provide a bold, defined roofline while delivering reinforced wind resistance through modern fastening systems. When paired with proper drip edge and sealed penetrations, the roof performs as a complete system rather than a collection of parts. That system-based approach is critical in climates where wind uplift and driving rain are routine concerns. This project included approximately 45 squares of Owens Corning Duration shingles in Onyx Black. White drip edge was installed to create a clean perimeter contrast, while black boots, vents, and paint details maintained visual consistency across penetrations and ridgelines.
