Roofers in Lake City, FL
Our team at Brehm Roofing & Restoration has been hard at work this week on a beautiful log cabin project in Lake City, Florida. The homeowner chose Owens Corning shingles for the new roof, which added both durability and aesthetic appeal to the property. One of the unique challenges on this project involved the cabin’s construction. With tongue and groove ceilings throughout, extra care was necessary to protect the interior finish. A significant portion of the porch area required a full rebuild. Our crew installed all new tongue and groove boards, followed by a layer of 5/8" plywood sheathing. To ensure proper waterproofing, we installed a peel and stick membrane before applying the new shingles. Attention to detail was critical, especially when it came to fasteners. To avoid visible nail penetrations through the tongue and groove ceilings, we switched from traditional 1.25" roofing nails to 0.75" nails for the porch areas. This approach maintained a clean interior look while still securing the shingles effectively. This was a true 10 out of 10 in terms of project difficulty, but our team delivered outstanding craftsmanship every step of the way. Another great example of the pride we take in our work!
