About a year ago, Action Exteriors moved its office out to Liberty Hill. Jacob brought his daughters out to check out the new spot and met Abe, the former owner's son. Abe turned out to be a construction superintendent, and a few months later he called Jacob to bid one of his projects. The price ended up outside their range that time, but the two stayed in touch. A week later, Abe called back. The sub they'd planned to use didn't meet insurance requirements, so Action Exteriors stepped in, finished the project in a single day, and built in a few roof crickets to improve drainage. Not long after, Abe's dad Jerry reached out about hail damage to his roof. During the inspection, the team found damage to the chimney flashing system that isn't always caught. Because those flashings sit behind the stucco, replacing them properly meant removing the stucco around the chimney. They also found the chimney was missing kick-out flashing, a detail that directs water away from the wall where the roof terminates into it. Without it, water gets driven into the wall instead of away from it. The additional damage was documented as part of the scope of work. Once the stucco came off, the team found more than 10 pieces of roof decking and framing around the chimney that had rotted from years of water intrusion; damage that could have kept spreading if the flashing issue had gone unaddressed. Jerry ended up with a new GAF UHDZ Class 4 impact-resistant roof (Class 4 shingles may qualify for an insurance discount; homeowners should confirm with their carrier), a Golden Pledge Warranty with 30 years of workmanship coverage, a full chimney rebuild, and a properly flashed system including the kick-out flashing that was missing. Jerry was out of town for the entire project, and PM Jacob Smola made sure everything, including HVAC line sets installed close to the decking, was handled carefully so nothing was damaged during the rebuild. One relationship led to the next: Action Exteriors bought its office from Jerry's family, met Abe, earned his trust on one project, and got referred to his dad. That's the whole model. Do good work, take care of people, and the referrals take care of the rest.
