Capitol Iron Works completed the fabrication and installation of custom steel railings and handrails for a residential project in Gaithersburg, MD, The project involved replacing dated wooden railings with a more durable and streamlined metal solution. Design Style: Traditional interior design featuring vertical pickets for a timeless, classic look. Structural Components: The framework is built with 1" x 1" steel square posts and a custom 1" x 1/2" x 1/8" steel bar channel handrail, topped with an elegant molding bar cap. Infill Detail: The balusters consist of 1/2" x 1/2" steel square pickets, providing a sturdy yet classic look. Finish: Finished with a Standard Conventional Paint in black for a sleek, protective coating. The Problem We Solved: The client needed to replace deteriorating wooden railings with a lower-maintenance, higher-strength material. We installed matching handrails on both sides of the steps, ensuring the staircase meets safety standards while significantly upgrading the home's interior profile.
