Residential Landscape Project
CML undertook this small but beautifully executed project by completely clearing the existing landscape and starting fresh. We began by removing overgrown weeds and liriope around the two air conditioning units to create a clean, tidy space. During our prep work, we discovered a cracked backflow valve that needed replacement before the spring season—an essential fix to ensure proper irrigation and system functionality. Once repairs were completed, we added approximately one inch of topsoil over weed fabric to promote healthy plant growth. We then laid down 3/4" to 1" driveway or base stone, creating a stable foundation for the landscape. To define the planting area, we installed a 4-foot metal edging, separating the stone from the mulch bed for a crisp, clean look. To clear the way for new plantings, we used a stump grinder to remove an old stump obstructing the planting area. We then built a raised bed by adding three inches of premium topsoil, covered with weed fabric to prevent unwanted weeds. Inside the bed, we installed 10-gallon arborvitae, 3-gallon nandinas, and 1-gallon liriope, choosing plants that offer structure and color. The finishing touch was a layer of high-quality cypress mulch, which adds a polished appearance and helps retain moisture. Overall, a well-executed transformation that combines functionality with aesthetic appeal—if we do say so ourselves.
