Chimney Repairs using Copper

We recently had the pleasure of tackling a challenging yet rewarding project involving a couple of leaking chimneys. Upon our initial inspection, we identified several key issues that needed immediate attention. The chimneys had developed noticeable cracks on top, which had become gateways for rainwater intrusion. Compounding the problem was the existing chimney flashing, which was not only poorly installed but also ineffectively covered with tar sealant, exacerbating the leakage. Understanding the importance of both functionality and aesthetics, we embarked on a comprehensive restoration plan. Our solution was to install top-notch copper crowns on the chimneys. These crowns were meticulously designed to offer robust protection to the chimney tops, particularly safeguarding the areas weakened by the cracks. The elegance of the copper material also added a touch of class to the overall appearance. The next step was addressing the inadequate flashing. We carefully removed the old, poorly installed flashing and replaced it with new, high-quality copper counter flashing. This not only ensured a watertight seal but also enhanced the visual appeal of the chimneys. We are thrilled to report that the end result of our project was a resounding success. The chimneys are now fully protected from rainwater, effectively solving the leakage problem. Moreover, the addition of the copper elements has significantly improved the chimneys' appearance, making them a standout feature of the property.
