Elevated Multi-Level Composite Deck with Spiral Staircase in Pittsburgh
We expanded the usable outdoor living area of this urban row house by designing and building a multi-level deck system. Our team installed a robust pressure-treated wood frame and structural support posts, topped with high-performance composite decking boards. To connect the second-story level to the ground-level patio, we installed a custom black metal spiral staircase that optimizes the narrow footprint between neighboring properties. We finished the space with durable black metal railings and ensured structural integrity by reinforcing the connection points between the deck frame and the existing building masonry. This renovation successfully converted an underutilized alleyway and roof-adjacent area into a cohesive, multi-story outdoor retreat. The new deck provides a stable, low-maintenance platform that improves both the accessibility and functional value of the rear exterior space.
