This Raleigh home, built in 1946, deserved to be treated with respect — not left in chaos. When the homeowner called us, another contractor had already installed a prefabricated shower and then walked off the job, leaving her with exposed subfloors, loose plumbing, cracked walls, and a sink that literally moved when touched. The bathroom was unsafe, unfinished, and unusable. We stepped in to do what should have been done from the start. The subfloor had multiple layers from different eras and was badly damaged, so we removed everything down to the structure, reinforced it, leveled it, and sealed it properly before installing the new tile floor. We secured and reinforced the existing prefab shower that had been left improperly installed, ensuring it was structurally sound and safe for daily use. The sink was another major problem. The plumbing had been run through cracked walls, leaving the vanity unstable and exposed. We removed all of it, ran new plumbing inside the wall where it belongs, and installed a beautiful floating sink that was properly anchored and supported — clean, modern, and completely secure. Because the homeowner needed accessibility, we designed and built a custom knee wall next to the shower so we could install grab bars that allow her to step in and out safely. We added additional grab bars at the toilet and throughout the space, all integrated cleanly into the design so safety never compromised beauty. But this wasn’t just a bathroom renovation — it was a restoration. The homeowner loved the charm of her 1946 home and wanted the bathroom to honor that era. So we preserved and restored original elements wherever possible. We refinished and painted the original medicine cabinet. We kept and restored the existing fixtures.
