Another air source heat pump installation completed by Elite Services Group — this time replacing an inefficient, poorly installed Samsung heat pump with a new Ideal Logic Air HP290, controlled and optimised by the Homely thermostat. This project is a perfect example of why design and installation quality matter just as much as the heat pump itself. When a heat pump system is poorly designed or incorrectly installed, the consequences can be massive: ❌ Higher running costs ❌ Poor comfort levels ❌ Reduced efficiency ❌ Excessive cycling ❌ Increased wear on the compressor and components ❌ Shortened life expectancy of the unit ❌ Frustrated customers who lose confidence in the technology A heat pump is only as good as the system around it. On this installation, we didn’t just swap the outdoor unit and walk away. We took the opportunity to properly assess, simplify and improve the full system design. As you can see from the photos, we have significantly simplified the hydronic layout by removing the unnecessary buffer arrangement and changing the system over to a correctly designed volumiser setup. This allows the system to operate as a more direct open-loop arrangement, improving flow, reducing unnecessary mixing losses, and helping the heat pump deliver heat more efficiently into the property. The new Ideal HP290 is now set up to operate with better flow temperatures, improved system control, and smarter optimisation through Homely, giving the customer a system that is designed for: ✅ Better efficiency ✅ Lower running costs ✅ Improved comfort ✅ Longer equipment life ✅ Reliable performance for years to come ✅ A much cleaner and simpler plant room layout This is exactly why we always say: heat pumps work brilliantly when they are designed, installed and commissioned correctly.
