Richard L. Johnson Early Learning Center’s playground was designed to be more than just a place to play—it’s a space that encourages movement, imagination, and exploration. We installed Playground Grass Ultra by ForeverLawn throughout the area, creating a safe, cushioned surface that stays clean and usable year-round. Ultra features built-in antimicrobial and antistatic technology, along with a durable, consistent surface that won’t wear unevenly or turn to mud—making it ideal for high-use school environments. To bring the space to life, we incorporated a variety of custom design elements, including a flowing “river” of blue Playground Grass Ultra that winds through the playground, adding both visual interest and a fun, interactive feature for students. We also installed wood-style stepping stone Funserts and leaf stepper elements, encouraging active play, balance, and coordination as kids move through the space. To top it off, a turfed play mound with an integrated slide adds elevation and excitement, giving students even more ways to engage with the playground. The result is a vibrant, safe, and low-maintenance play environment that blends creativity with performance—giving students a space that inspires play while providing long-term durability for the school.
