Promenade Park in Fort Wayne is one of the city’s most iconic play spaces—but over time, the original poured-in-place (PIP) surface began to degrade and fail critical fall height requirements. Rather than requiring a full and costly removal of the existing surface, Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation partnered with us to develop a more efficient solution. We were able to repair the failing areas of the PIP and then install Playground Grass Ultra by ForeverLawn over the entire space—restoring safety, improving durability, and completely transforming the look of the park. Playground Grass provides a consistent, cushioned surface designed to meet fall height standards while offering a clean, low-maintenance alternative to traditional playground surfacing. Unlike PIP, it won’t crack, wear down unevenly, or require constant repairs over time. By taking this approach, the city was able to save significantly on replacement costs while creating a safer, more reliable, and visually refreshed play environment for the community. The result is a surface that not only looks great, but performs long-term—keeping Promenade Park functional, safe, and enjoyable for years to come.
