While performing a routine service on a Generac 22kW unit in Houston TX, technicians identified several critical failures. A push rod was found to be bent and worn, accompanied by a worn guide plate. The rocker arm had completely detached from the push rod, nearly puncturing the valve cover, while the compression spring remained seized in a halfway compressed state. Generac initially requested a compression spring replacement. Our team installed a new head assembly and adjusted the valves; however, the unit produced a ticking sound upon manual startup. After allowing the engine to cool, technicians verified the push rods were straight and adjusted the valves.
