Gold Key Roofing – Residential Re-Roof Installation | CertainTeed Landmark Georgetown Gray Shingles | Central Florida This project involved the installation of a complete residential asphalt shingle roofing system using CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Georgetown Gray. CertainTeed Landmark shingles are widely recognized in the roofing industry for their durability, architectural appearance, and strong wind resistance, making them an excellent choice for homes located in Florida’s demanding climate. Prior to installing the new roofing system, the existing roof components were carefully evaluated and prepared to ensure proper installation and long-term performance. Our team focused on critical areas of the roof structure where additional protection and installation adjustments were necessary to accommodate variations in roof pitch. On the lower slope section located at the rear of the home, we installed a self-adhering peel-and-stick waterproof underlayment. This type of underlayment provides enhanced protection in areas where water runoff moves more slowly due to the reduced roof pitch. Self-adhering membranes create a watertight barrier that helps prevent moisture intrusion and provides an additional layer of protection beneath the shingle system. To further strengthen the installation in the lower pitch section, stainless steel roofing nails were used when installing the shingles in that area. Stainless steel fasteners provide superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional roofing nails and are particularly beneficial in areas where moisture exposure may be more frequent. This additional step helps ensure long-term durability and secure fastening of the roofing materials. As part of the overall roof system improvements, the existing gutter system was removed prior to roofing installation to allow proper integration of new edge metal and flashing components. After removal, our team installed new drip edge metal along the entire perimeter of the roof. Properly installed drip edge metal is a critical component of any roofing system because it directs water away from the roof decking and fascia, helping to protect the underlying wood structure and prevent moisture-related damage.
