A Portola Limewash Bedroom with Natural Texture and Depth
This project was all about creating a soft, organic finish with movement and depth. Our crew, led by Edy, transformed the primary bedroom using Portola Paints Limewash in Tikal, delivering a rich, layered look that feels both modern and timeless. Primary Bedroom Highlights Walls: The bedroom walls were carefully prepped, patched, and sanded before receiving a full base coat of latex primer to ensure proper adhesion. Two coats of Portola Limewash in Tikal were then applied by hand, creating the subtle tonal variation and depth that limewash is known for. The finish adds character and warmth while maintaining a calm, earthy feel. Ceiling: The ceiling was also primed and finished with Portola Limewash Tikal, extending the textured look overhead and creating a cohesive, enveloping atmosphere throughout the room. Surface Preparation: Because limewash highlights wall texture, detailed prep was critical. All imperfections were addressed before application, ensuring the final result feels intentional and refined rather than uneven. Preparation and Craftsmanship This project followed Groovy Hues’ No Liquid Rule, with full protection of floors and furnishings before work began. Walls and ceilings were primed to create the proper base for limewash absorption. The limewash was applied in controlled layers to achieve consistent movement and depth across all surfaces. Edy completed a final walkthrough to confirm even tonal variation and a seamless finish from wall to ceiling. ✨ This project showcases how limewash can completely transform a bedroom into a textured, design forward retreat.
