Interior Transformation for Historic Home in Society Hill, Philadelphia
Our team at Groovy Hues Painting had the pleasure of transforming the interior of a beautiful home located in the heart of Society Hill. This multi-room project required precision, attention to detail, and a thoughtful approach to color selection, which began with a complimentary color consultation to ensure every space reflected the client’s vision. Scope of Work: The interior refresh spanned four main areas: the basement, two second-floor bedrooms, and a third-floor office, totaling over 1,789 sq ft of painted wall space. Each room had its own unique character and was brought to life with a carefully curated Sherwin-Williams palette in a premium Cashmere finish. Basement Walls were painted in Green Earth (SW 7748), creating a serene and grounded environment. The north wall was intentionally left unpainted, as it connected to the upstairs stairwell. All surfaces were prepped, sanded, and painted with two coats for complete coverage. Front Bedroom – Second Floor A full wallpaper removal and skim coating process was completed on 105 sq ft of wall surface. Priming was done with latex primer to ensure smooth adhesion. Finished with two coats of Alabaster (SW 7008), giving the space a crisp, airy brightness. Back Bedroom – Second Floor Walls were painted in the soft and romantic Mauve Finery (SW 6282). We also addressed structural issues, repairing cracks around the window frames to ensure a flawless finish. Two full coats were applied after thorough preparation and caulking. Top Floor Front Office This space received three coats of Grecian Ivory (SW 7541) for added richness and full coverage. The warm, neutral tone complemented the natural light, creating a calm and productive workspace. Professional Preparation Process: Every room was prepped to Groovy Hues standards: Furniture was moved and protected with plastic wrap. All switch plates, vents, and hardware were removed or taped off. Glossy and uneven surfaces were sanded using Festool equipment. Nail holes and cracks were filled and smoothed to perfection. Durable, moisture-resistant products were used in all appropriate areas. Final Touches: Each day concluded with a detailed cleanup to maintain a safe, clutter-free environment. The project ended with a final walkthrough led by our crew leader, Jose R., to ensure everything met the homeowner’s expectations. Any necessary touch-ups were addressed immediately or scheduled for follow-up.
