Sophisticated Interior Makeover in South Philly

At Groovy Hues Painting, we recently completed a multi-space interior painting project for a South Philadelphia rowhome near Dickinson Square. Our client, Carolina, wanted to refresh her space while maintaining a sophisticated and personalized aesthetic—and we were happy to bring that vision to life. Scope of Work: This project covered several high-traffic and highly visible areas of the home, including the primary bedroom, stairwells, hallway, and bathroom. With thoughtful color matching and attention to detail, our crew created a seamless flow throughout the home. Preparation Process: Following our “No Liquid Rule,” the team fully protected all surfaces before bringing in supplies. Furniture was wrapped and moved, floors were covered with red rosin paper or drop cloths, and all surfaces were patched, caulked, sanded, and primed where needed. Our prep work set the foundation for a flawless finish. Room-by-Room Breakdown: Primary Bedroom: This room was the star of the project. Using Farrow & Ball's Mizzle (applied with Sherwin-Williams Cashmere and Emerald Urethane Enamel products), we painted the walls, ceiling, trim, and doors in a soft, sophisticated green. The cohesive use of one color throughout created a peaceful, modern vibe, and the added sheen from the semi-gloss on trim and doors elevated the space. Bathroom: We used West Highland White in a satin and semi-gloss finish for the walls, ceilings, and trim. The clean, classic white helped brighten up the smaller room while maintaining durability in this moisture-prone space. 2nd & 3rd Floor Hallways and Stairwells: We brought fresh life to these transitional spaces using Summer White on the ceilings and trim. These updates provided a clean, bright look while maintaining the historic charm of the home. Additional Touches: Paint was custom color-matched to maintain consistency between walls and ceilings. The client provided some of her own paint to ensure the perfect hue was used in her bedroom. Crew leader Mynor and the team handled everything from prep to daily clean-up to a thorough post-job walkthrough with the client. Final Result: The completed project blends charm, elegance, and personality, offering Carolina a refreshed home that reflects her taste and style.
