Front yard landscape design and build with Realturf artificial turf, rock beds and chop block borders in Belle Oaks, Bulverde, TX. THE CHALLENGE: This new Hill Country home needed a complete front landscape: a clean entry, defined beds around the native oaks, a lawn that stays green without mowing and a low-water design that fits the rural setting. WHAT WE DID: Our crew prepped and graded the site and set about 750 ft of cream chop block in flowing curves to define every bed and the lawn. We installed 1,100 sq ft of 2 inch Realturf artificial turf with Envirofill infill, filled the beds with Texas Black shadow rock and 3/4 inch washed granite, and used Laredo 2-5 inch and Texas Blend 5-8 inch river rock for dry creek beds and accents. Native oaks got black mulch tree rings. Plantings include golden barrel cactus, Yucca rostrata, red yucca, pink muhly, Mexican feather grass, lantana, blue mistflower, Mexican bush sage and dwarf oleander. We also added 120 ft of seamless gutters and lined the culvert with limestone riprap. THE RESULT: A refined, low-maintenance front landscape with sweeping curves, layered stone and Texas native color that looks sharp all year.
