Holland paver herringbone patio and walkway in Big Springs, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: The backyard seating area under the oaks sat on loose washed granite, and there was no solid walkway from the patio around to the side gate. WHAT WE DID: We removed the washed granite, excavated 6 inches and compacted road base in lifts, then built a 12 x 19 ft (228 sq ft) patio around the existing chopped stone and granite seating area using Holland pavers in the Cineblend color, laid in a herringbone pattern with charcoal Holland accents. A walkway from the back patio to the side gate was rebuilt by relaying the homeowners' existing pavers with a new charcoal Holland border. THE RESULT: A level, long-lasting patio and walkway that connect every part of the backyard and are easy to use year-round. The earlier mulch and sod phase at this home is in our other Big Springs showcase. Scope: paver patio, herringbone Holland pavers, charcoal accent border, paver walkway, base prep and compaction.
