Trex composite pool deck and Belgard paver front walkway in Coolcrest, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: In the backyard there was an awkward gap between the existing flagstone patio and the pool decking, and out front there was no finished walkway from the sidewalk to the front entry. WHAT WE DID: Out front, we excavated 7 inches and installed a 3 x 26 ft paver walkway from the sidewalk to the front door: Danville Beige pavers in a 3-piece pattern with a Belgard Dimensions 12 Suede soldier-course border, on 4 inches of crushed base and 1 inch of bedding sand, locked in with edge restraint and polymeric sand. In the backyard, we built a 6 x 16 ft Trex composite deck bridging the flagstone patio and the pool deck: a pressure-treated frame on concrete footings, joists 16 inches on center, Trex boards with hidden fasteners and fascia trim, with commercial weed barrier underneath. Hole In One Lawns is a Trex Pro builder. THE RESULT: A splinter-free, no-stain lounge deck that ties the pool and patio together, and a sharp paver walkway that boosts curb appeal out front. Scope: Trex composite deck, deck framing and footings, Belgard paver walkway, soldier-course border, base prep and compaction, weed barrier.
