Belgard paver walkway, river rock beds and wax myrtle screening on the Far West Side of San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: There was no solid path from the back patio to the side gate, the beds needed a cleaner, lower-maintenance finish, and the homeowners wanted green screening and shade. WHAT WE DID: We built a 220 sq ft walkway from the patio to the side gate with Belgard Dimensions 12 pavers in Crab Orchard, framed by Suede and Charcoal Holland 4x8 soldier courses, and sealed it to protect the color. Seven 15-gallon wax myrtles were planted for screening along with soft leaf yucca and a Monterey oak, and we ran drip irrigation to 14 trees. Beds were finished with Texas Blend river rock (2 inch in back, 3-5 inch in front), Texas Black shadow rock in the front, and 10 yards of hardwood mulch. We also repaired the retaining wall by the pool. THE RESULT: A clean, durable path around the house, tidy rock and mulch beds and new trees that will fill in for privacy and shade.
