While we were working on a nearby project, the homeowner next door approached us with concerns about their backyard. After receiving quotes from three other companies who said the job was too complex, they asked if we could take a look. One walk-through and it was clear: this project needed the right vision — and the right team. The backyard sat on an elevated slope with a pool at the top. Directly underneath the pool was a foundation of mud, uneven terrain, and no drainage infrastructure — a recipe for long-term structural issues and safety hazards. We immediately identified the drainage problems and presented a comprehensive game plan to not only correct them, but to completely reimagine the space. Our solution started with demolishing massive boulders left behind by the builder. These weren’t just surface rocks — many were buried underground. Thanks to our investment in top-tier equipment like the Caterpillar 265, we were able to safely extract and manage these boulders, preparing the ground for a solid foundation. We then constructed a two-tier retaining wall system using proper drainage and backfill materials to ensure stability for years to come. Once the first tier was in place, we moved on to the paver patio installation, starting with a fully compacted base and integrated weed barrier for durability. To enhance both functionality and beauty, we built three custom staircases connecting the tiers and added LED step lighting throughout the patio and wall. This not only highlights the stonework’s texture, but also improves visibility and safety at night. We finished off the project with low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plants strategically placed around the patio, creating a seamless transition between the hardscape and landscape. At the bottom level, we added a custom flagstone fire pit with a shadow rock finish, giving the family a cozy gathering space where they can relax, entertain, and enjoy their backyard like never before.
