Belgard paver patio, Diamond 9D retaining wall and bullnose steps in Ravello, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: The long, sloped side yard of this brick home was bare dirt and grade change, with no level place to sit and water moving toward the house. WHAT WE DID: Working from our 3D design, the crew prepped and excavated the side yard, then built about 56 ft of Belgard Diamond 9D retaining wall in Danville Beige with Belgard wall caps, perforated drain pipe along the entire wall, 3/4 inch crushed limestone drain rock and landscape fabric. Behind it we installed about 530 sq ft of Belgard Dimensions 12 pavers in a 3-piece pattern in Danville Beige, framed with a Suede 6x9 soldier course, plus two Belgard bullnose steps down to the patio. The rest of the backyard was leveled with 1/4-minus decomposed granite over weed barrier, the side yard with compacted road base, and we poured four 12-inch sonotube footings flush with the pavers for the homeowners' pergola. THE RESULT: A level, well-drained outdoor room that turns an awkward side yard into shaded seating and an easy path to the backyard. See the 3D design in our other Ravello showcase. Scope: Belgard paver patio, Diamond 9D retaining wall with caps, wall drainage, bullnose steps, decomposed granite, road base, pergola footings, 3D landscape design.
