Natural Oklahoma flagstone walkways and hardwood mulch beds under live oaks in Scattered Oaks, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: This home sits under mature live oaks, where shade, roots and foot traffic had worn paths into the yard and the beds were overrun with oak suckers. WHAT WE DID: Following the design, our crew laid 2-1/2 to 3 inch Oklahoma select flagstone as stepping-stone walkways through the front and back yards, setting each stone to follow the grade and work around the oak roots. We cleaned out the oak suckers, laid commercial 5 oz weed barrier in the front bed by the garage, the bed around the three live oaks and the bed behind the outdoor kitchen, and finished three backyard beds with 4 yards of brown hardwood mulch. THE RESULT: Natural stone paths that fit the shaded setting, keep foot traffic off the turf and make the beds look clean and cared for. Scope: Oklahoma flagstone walkways, stepping stones, hardwood mulch, weed barrier, bed cleanup.
