Landscape design and build with DuraPet pet turf, Tahoma 31 Bermuda sod, a new Rain Bird irrigation system and a new privacy fence in The Heights, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: This home had an unfinished yard with no irrigation, bare front soil, a backyard that needed a durable pet-friendly surface, and an old fence that needed replacing. WHAT WE DID: Working from our 3D design, we installed a new 4-zone Rain Bird irrigation system with drip for the beds, tree bubblers, spray and rotary heads, backflow, master valve and a Rain Bird ESP Wi-Fi controller. The front yard was graded with about 8 yards of enriched topsoil and sodded with Tahoma 31 Bermuda in a brick pattern. In the backyard, about 1,600 sq ft of DuraPet canine turf went down on an aggregate base, framed by about 150 ft of 4x6 chopstone border on a concrete footing, with 1-4 inch Texas Blend river rock along the fence line and side yards for drainage. We replaced about 200 ft of fence with new pressure-treated pine pickets, three rails and posts in concrete, added a gate with black hardware, stained the fence, and planted dwarf oleander, flax lily, red yucca, red skullcap and rosemary. THE RESULT: A green, fully irrigated front lawn, a pet-proof backyard and a fresh fence line, all built to handle San Antonio summers. See the 3D design in our other Heights showcase.
