Our customer had one goal: transform their backyard into a clean, functional space the family could enjoy by Thanksgiving. The existing yard was a muddy mess — grass refused to grow due to a large shade tree, and poor drainage was causing rot on the deck and wood structures. We stepped in with a full-scope solution, starting with demolition of all the rotting wood and problematic features to start fresh. Once the area was leveled, we installed a new composite deck, offering the warmth of wood without the maintenance headaches. Composite boards resist moisture, won’t splinter or rot, and are backed by an excellent manufacturer warranty — perfect for long-term durability. To add structure and elegance, we custom-formed a chop stone border, helping define the landscape and elevate the design. Inside the border, we planted a beautiful mix of drought-tolerant plants and finished it off with bold black mulch for contrast. We then installed a functional 2x2 stepping paver path starting from the gate entrance with a dedicated trash can pad, leading to the deck, and continuing around to the shed. For the side yard, we blended Shadow Rock and Laredo Rock to handle runoff and reduce maintenance. Finally, we installed premium artificial turf — providing a lush, clean space for the kids to play on the playground without the worry of muddy shoes or dead grass from heavy foot traffic. The result? A stunning, low-maintenance outdoor space finished just in time for Thanksgiving.
