Front Yard Artificial Turf & Chopstone Border | Wortham Oaks, San Antonio TX
August 2026
Front yard artificial turf with cream chopstone borders and Texas Blend river rock in Wortham Oaks, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: The front lawn under two mature live oaks fought shade, high water bills and bare spots, and the irrigation valves sat right in the middle of the lawn area. WHAT WE DID: We moved three irrigation valves out of the lawn to a utility area at the side of the home with boxes set flush to grade, capped the spray heads in the turf zone and tested the system. Then we excavated, built a compacted base and installed about 630 sq ft of Tri-Blend All Seasons artificial turf with a commercial securing system and edging, power-broomed to finish. A cream chopstone border on a reinforced concrete footing with mortared joints and drainage openings frames the turf, with chopstone tree rings around the front trees, and Texas Blend river rock over weed barrier covers the side and utility areas. We also trimmed the oaks and removed crape myrtle roots from the front bed. THE RESULT: An always-green, no-mow front lawn that thrives in shade and uses far less water, with crisp stone edging and big curb appeal. Scope: artificial turf installation, irrigation valve relocation, chopstone border, tree rings, Texas Blend river rock, weed barrier, oak trimming. Hole In One Lawns - landscape design and build for San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. 2025 Best Landscape Designer in San Antonio. BBB Accredited.
