Landscape design and build with artificial turf, concrete stepping pavers, chop block borders and river rock beds in Wortham Oaks, San Antonio, TX. THE CHALLENGE: The front and back yards needed a low-maintenance, water-wise refresh, with clean paths, a play-ready lawn and dedicated dog runs. WHAT WE DID: Working from our 3D design, we relocated one irrigation zone to the center lawn and capped three side-yard zones, then set about 258 ft of cream 4x6 chop block limestone on concrete to frame the turf, beds and rock. In front, 360 sq ft of Playscape artificial turf (6-inch excavation, 4-inch base, silica sand infill) sits beside a bed of brown hardwood mulch. Texas Blend 3-5 inch river rock fills the front bed and left side yard, 1-inch washed granite covers the backyard beds and 1/4-minus decomposed granite makes the dog runs, all over weed block. Twenty-eight 23x23 inch cream concrete pavers on concrete lead from the side entrance to the deck and from the deck to the shed, and Zoysia Palisades sod patched the backyard lawn. THE RESULT: A clean, low-water yard with a green no-mow lawn, easy walking paths and durable dog runs.
