For this project, we completed a full removal and replacement of a section of an existing metal roofing system to improve performance, insulation, and long-term durability. We began by removing the old metal panels, foam inserts, coatings, and fiberglass batt insulation. This allowed us to start fresh with a clean, properly prepared structure. Next, we installed new 3” fiberglass batt insulation over the existing Z-purlin framing to improve thermal performance and help regulate interior temperatures. The roof was then finished with new 26-gauge R-Panel metal roofing, installed according to manufacturer specifications. All seams and side laps were sealed with tacky tape, and manufacturer-approved fasteners were used to ensure secure attachment and long-term performance. To complete the system, we installed new eave trim, rake edge metal where needed, and a newly formed ridge cap at the transition between the new metal roof and the adjoining foam roof. Foam was reapplied at the transition area to properly tie into the existing system. When the adjacent foam roof is replaced in the future, the ridge cap will be upgraded to a continuous system to maintain long-term integrity. This project delivers a stronger, cleaner, and more energy-efficient roofing system built for long-term commercial performance.
