Irrigation Main Line PVC Repair

When we arrived, we discovered the mainline leak had been “repaired” in the past with a slip fix coupling. Slip fixes are fine for temporary or low-pressure situations, but they’re the wrong choice for a mainline and often fail over time. On top of that, a shrub had been planted directly above the pipe, and the root pressure contributed to the crack. We removed the failed section, rebuilt it properly with PVC solvent-welded joints and transitioned to copper above ground for durability. Once complete, the system was re-pressurized and confirmed completely leak-free. 👉 Moral of the story: avoid slip fixes on mainlines, and don’t plant shrubs directly over buried pipes — it leads to hidden damage and costly leaks.
