During this project we transformed an aging fireplace into a refined focal point by carefully removing deteriorated limestone, salvaging and cleaning original brick, and installing a custom limestone mantel and matching hearth extension that respect the room’s historic character. Where necessary, brick was taken down up to four feet above the hearth and thoughtfully reintegrated to ensure seamless visual continuity. The work was completed with the discreet installation of an Ei29 LCD Atmosphere electric insert—oak logs, brick panels, and a matte black three‑sided surround—providing realistic ambience, improved safety, and low‑maintenance operation. The result is a beautifully balanced blend of authentic masonry craftsmanship and contemporary functionality, finished with meticulous cleanup and attention to long‑term durability.
