A Hidden Waterline Break Under the Kitchen Floor

McCray & Sons Home Services completed a full slab-leak repair on a hot-water line located beneath the kitchen floor. The damaged section of pipe was accessed, repaired, tested, and the slab was restored with a smooth concrete patch. The customer will be handling the final flooring installation. Work Completed Day 1 – Access and Repair • Removed approximately a 3 ft × 3 ft section of existing linoleum flooring. • Jackhammered and removed a matching area of concrete slab to reach the plumbing. • Excavated until the ruptured hot-water line was fully exposed. • Removed the damaged section and installed new ½" type L copper piping using proper fittings. • Performed a full pressure test to confirm a successful repair. • Secured the opening with a plywood safety cover to allow the area to dry. Day 2 – Monitoring and Drying • Left the area open for continued drying and observation. • Verified there were no residual leaks. Day 3 – Finalization • Re-inspected the repaired line; no moisture or leakage detected. • Backfilled the excavation and installed a smooth, level concrete patch (no texture or color matching). • Cleaned and cleared the work area. Materials Used • ½" type L copper and fittings • Bands, couplings, solder, flux, and plumbing consumables • Jackhammer and excavation tools • Concrete patching materials • Plywood safety cover Notes • Flooring replacement was not included and will be completed by the customer. • Repair was completed within the original estimated work area. • Concrete patch is level only and does not include texture or color matching. • Pre-existing or hidden water migration beyond the repair area is not covered.
