Gas Line Reroute for Slab Foundation Home

January 2026

This project involved addressing a gas leak at a slab foundation home where the existing gas line was routed beneath the concrete. Rather than cutting into the slab to locate and repair the underground piping, the gas line was rerouted overhead as an alternative solution. The new overhead gas line was installed to supply the water heater, properly pressure tested, and brought up to current code. The existing underground line was abandoned, and a capped tee was added to allow for a potential future gas appliance connection. As part of the same visit, an unused gas-fed wall heater was fully removed and decommissioned, with the wall opening patched to restore a clean finish. This approach minimized disruption to the home, avoided unnecessary slab and flooring damage, and provided flexibility for future upgrades.
