A two-part project that started as an emergency call and turned into a complete roof rebuild. We responded first with ice dam removal — actually getting up on the roof in harnesses (not just working from the ground), carefully breaking up the dams along the eaves to relieve water backup, and tarping the most vulnerable section to stop interior water intrusion until the full job could happen. Once weather permitted, we executed the long-term fix: a complete tear-off of the home's asphalt section (leaving the existing EPDM area untouched per scope), then a full rebuild with the Owens Corning system — two courses of Grace ice and water barrier on all eaves, Grace at every valley and penetration, Deck Defense synthetic underlayment, OC starter shingles, and TruDefinition Duration shingles in Slatestone Gray, all installed to Platinum Preferred Warranty standards. Ventilation was rebuilt with OC VentSure ridge vent and ProEdge color-matched caps, and we re-flashed three skylights with Velux flashing kits. All new aluminum drip edge, step and counter flashing at the chimney, and new vent pipe boots. The result: immediate relief from the ice dam emergency, followed by a complete roof system built to prevent it from happening again — backed by a 50-year Owens Corning Platinum Protection Warranty and a 5-year MDR workmanship warranty.
