At this Concord home, we installed two Velux FSS M04 skylights with solar-powered room-darkening shades and Low-E laminated glass. The project began with full protection of both the interior and exterior, ensuring that roof shingles, ceilings, and landscaping were safe during the installation. Openings were framed with doubled headers and jack studs in line with Massachusetts code and Velux standards, followed by deck-mount installation with ice & water shield and an EDL flashing kit integrated into the existing asphalt roof. The solar panels were positioned for optimal sun exposure, and we completed the work with clean, rigid shaft liners and decorative molding at the ceiling for a polished finish. After installation, the skylights were tested for full remote-control operation, and the project wrapped up with a thorough cleanup and homeowner demonstration.
