Exterior transition caulking and penetration sealing on a new commercial build in Brentwood, completed for Woodbine Construction. The scope covered every vertical brick-to-panel transition joint and all designated exterior penetrations — conduit, electrical boxes, light fixtures, and miscellaneous wall passes. Backer rod was installed throughout to achieve correct joint geometry (proper depth-to-width ratio) so the sealant could move with the building and hold up through Tennessee freeze-thaw cycles. What made this job unusual: Most of our exterior caulking work runs on Tremco or Dow sealants pulled from standard color libraries. For this building, the architect's palette was specific enough that no off-the-shelf color was going to disappear into the wall the way the design required. We specified Sherwin-Williams PowerHouse® — a high-performance hybrid sealant — and had it specialty-tinted to two exact colors: SW 6181 "Secret Garden" — the deep green panel and trim color SW 7012 "Creamy" — the warm off-white brick PowerHouse was the right call here because it tints cleanly without losing its movement capability or UV stability, it bonds to a wide range of substrates (painted steel panels, painted brick, sealed wood, conduit), and it carries a long-term warranty backed by Sherwin-Williams. Custom-tint sealant work isn't our default, but when the design calls for the joints to vanish, this is how you do it. Outcome: A continuous, weather-resistant seal across every transition and penetration on the building envelope — color-matched so well the joints read as part of the wall, not a line across it. Project delivered on schedule and to spec.
