This project involved the targeted removal and replacement of all window sealants to stop current and prevent future water infiltration. Window Glazing System Repair (Wet Glazing): Existing wet glazing gaskets were trimmed and removed from all window glass-to-metal frames. High-performance DOWSIL™ 795 silicone sealant was installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications to restore long-term flexibility and adhesion, ensuring a waterproof seal around the glass. Window & Door Perimeter Sealing: All old, degraded sealants and backer rod materials were completely removed from the perimeter joints around all windows and doors. New backer rod and DOWSIL™ 795 silicone were expertly installed. Porous primer was utilized on the brick side of the joints to ensure maximum bond strength between the new sealant and the masonry substrate. Result: The completed project provides the Smyrna Library with a durable, maintenance-free, watertight barrier using industry-leading silicone waterproofing materials, significantly extending the life and efficiency of the facility's façade system.
