Pergola Entry for Function & a Modern Look
The previous homeowner had converted the porte-cochère into a kitchen, but the front of the home still functioned like a drive-up area. The new homeowner wanted to change that — encouraging guests to use the circular driveway while creating a more modern, intentional entry. We removed the existing flagstone patio/pathway and converted the area back into a clean, structured garden bed. To achieve a modern look, we incorporated white stone accents, decorative columns, dark basalt gravel, and minimal plantings. To further guide movement, we installed an extra-wide concrete walkway from the circular drive to the front door and built a custom cedar pergola to visually and physically discourage vehicles from pulling up to the house. This project is all about redefining how the space is used while elevating the overall aesthetic.
