Rolling Hills- Full building Demolition
Project Overview – Full Building & Foundation Demolition | Rolling Hills We performed a full structural demolition, including complete foundation and footing removal, on an approximately 3,700 square foot residential property located in a high-end hillside community. The project involved clearing an unfinished home and restoring the lot in compliance with all local requirements. Throughout the project, our team worked closely with City Building Officials to ensure full regulatory compliance and a smooth approval process, successfully clearing a partially constructed structure from a sensitive and upscale neighborhood. Project Challenges & Execution This project presented several unique challenges, most notably the hillside location, which significantly limited equipment access and required careful planning and logistics. In addition, the structure had been specifically engineered for the hillside environment. The raised foundation and footings were heavily reinforced, containing extensive rebar—including bars up to 1 inch in diameter—with all footings and foundations interconnected through continuous rebar tie-ins. This created an exceptionally strong and integrated concrete system. Due to the complexity and strength of the foundation, removal required precision, patience, and specialized heavy equipment. A large hydraulic concrete breaker mounted on a 30,000-lb excavator was used to systematically break down the reinforced concrete, while a second excavator supported debris handling and site clearance. All demolition debris was processed on site, loaded, and properly recycled in accordance with local and environmental regulations. Result The project was completed safely, efficiently, and in full coordination with city officials, resulting in a fully cleared lot ready for future development—despite the challenges posed by terrain, access, and reinforced structural design.
