We identified knob and tube wiring that was spliced into newer wiring as the home underwent various remodels, and the homeowner never knew about it. We replaced the wiring in 2 bedrooms, family room, dining room, kitchen, and basement in a lived in home over the course of 5 days. We also upgraded the electrical panel to allow life safety devices to be installed.
