Cat6 CMR Structured Cabling Relocation & Expansion – Long Beach, CA
Cat6 CMR Structured Cabling Relocation & Expansion – Long Beach, CA We delivered a seamless, high-impact structured cabling relocation and upgrade during a major tenant improvement remodel for a rental company in Long Beach, ensuring zero downtime while overcoming significant site challenges. Full Rack & Cabling Relocation: The existing telecom rack and all associated cabling were located in the front office, which was being eliminated in the remodel. We carefully relocated the entire infrastructure—including pulling back and re-routing existing fiber optic backbone cabling—to the new designated equipment room. New Equipment Room Challenges Overcome: The designated space was a former bank vault with extremely thick concrete walls and heavy steel reinforcement. Using our on-site core drilling equipment, we precisely created clean pathways and penetrations to route all structured cabling (Cat6 and fiber) into the vault—maintaining structural integrity and code compliance. Expanded Capacity: Added 20 new Cat6 CMR (riser-rated) drops throughout the remodeled space to support additional workstations, ensuring future-proof Gigabit Ethernet performance and PoE readiness. Clean & Professional Finish: All cabling was neatly dressed, labeled, and organized in the new rack. We also performed a full cleanup of existing cabling in the open ceiling areas, removing abandoned runs and improving airflow, aesthetics, and future accessibility. Coordination & Zero Downtime: Worked closely with the general contractor, IT department, and client team—completing all requested work ahead of schedule. We conducted thorough testing and verification with the IT team to confirm full network functionality, fiber connectivity, and workstation performance before handover. Client Satisfaction: No interruptions to the rental company’s daily operations. Both the customer and the general contractor were extremely pleased with the quality, speed, and professionalism of the project. This complex relocation and expansion project demonstrates Ring and Ping’s ability to handle challenging environments, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and deliver reliable, high-quality structured cabling solutions on time—even in a fortified former bank vault—keeping critical business operations running smoothly throughout.
