There are steps, details, and planning that go beyond a standard sidewalk pour. A retaining cap does exactly what it sounds like. It helps cap and protect the retaining wall while creating a stronger, more finished edge along the shoreline. On lakefront properties, retaining caps can help with erosion control, drainage, access, and the transition from land to water or from the yard to the dock. Many retaining caps also require an overhang, which is created with welded brackets on the outside of the retaining wall.
