

Tree Preservation
Project Description/Summary: These two mature apple trees had been partially uprooted for several years and were at risk of collapsing if left unaddressed. Because the homeowner's children love climbing the trees and enjoying the fresh fruit each season, preserving them was the preferred solution over removal. To reduce the risk of failure, we performed structural pruning to decrease the weight and stress on the compromised root systems. We then installed rot-resistant 4x4 black locust support posts to stabilize the trees and provide long-term structural support. Black locust is one of the most naturally durable wood species, making it an excellent choice for ground-contact applications. By combining weight reduction pruning with permanent support systems, we were able to preserve two valuable fruit trees, improve safety for the family, and extend the trees' useful life for years to come. This project demonstrates how proper tree preservation techniques can often save a tree that might otherwise require removal, protecting both the customer's investment and the memories these trees continue to provide.
